James Clerk Maxwell is famously known for his discoveries in the field of electromagnetic radiation that formed the foundation for inventions like the television, the radio and the cellular phone. Maxwell is also known for his astronomical discoveries regarding the stability of Saturn's rings.
Maxwell lived from 1831 to 1879. He made several discoveries about color and light, and in 1861, he even took the first color photograph, a photo of a ribbon. Maxwell also postulated the kinetic theory of gases, which gave a way to measure the speed of molecules in gases at different temperatures using mechanics and thermodynamics.
