The 2003 novel “Odd Thomas†by American author Dean Koontz is set in the present in the fictional town of Pico Mundo, California. The main character is a fry cook named Odd Thomas, who has the ability to see the spirits of the dead.
“Odd Thomas†is the first in series of seven novels, including “Forever Odd,†“Brother Odd,†“Odd Hours†and “Deeply Odd.†The final book in the series, “Saint Odd,†was released in January 2015.
As of 2015, Koontz has sold 20 million copies of “Odd Thomas†worldwide. The New York Times bestseller was also adapted for the 2013 film “Odd Thomas,†written and directed by Stephen Sommers.
