Robert A. Schuller divorced his ex-wife, Linda, in 1983 after 10 years of marriage. They married when she was 18 and he was 19. They had one son, Robert Schuller III. According to an interview done by Bobby Schuller, the divorce was a scandal at Crystal Cathedral.

According to Linda, the real issue in her marriage to Robert A. Schuller was Robert H. Schuller, her ex-husband's father. The senior Schuller opposed the marriage from the start, and persistently tried to separate the couple throughout their marriage.

Schuller married a woman named Donna on November 10, 1984. Robert and Donna have three children.
