Ronnie Biggs died on Dec.18, 2013, at the age of 84. Biggs was also known as "the Great Train Robber" because of his participation in the 1963 Great Train Robbery in England, according to BBC News UK.

Ronnie Biggs was a small-time crook who gained notoriety through his involvement in the robbery of £2.6 million Great Britain Pounds (GBP) from the Glasgow-to-London train in 1963. This amount is equivalent to approximately $4.38 million United States Dollars (USD) in 2014. He escaped from prison in 1965 and went on the run to Paris, Brazil and Australia. He returned to Great Britain in 2001 and was imprisoned but was later released for compassionate reasons after contracting pneumonia and suffering a series of small strokes. He died in a nursing home in London.
