Shen Nung is believed to have died from an overdose from trying a voluminous amount of herbs. He is known as the Father of Chinese medicine and tasted 365 herbs. Shen Nung lived about 5,000 years ago and is believed to have brought agriculture to China. .

Shen Nung was a Chinese emperor and at times has been referred to as the Yan emperor. Shen Nung is considered an ancestor to both the Chinese and Vietnamese people. He is credited with inventing numerous agricultural tools, such as the axe, plow and hoe. He is also believed to have invented agricultural irrigation and the Chinese calendar. Shen Nung discovered numerous medicinal herbs and decided the grade and rarity of each one.
