Tycho Brahe was an astronomer who, through careful observation, recorded and discovered the visible orbit of heavenly bodies across the night sky. Brahe is also credited with providing data that disproved the early 16th-century theory that the heavens are static.
Brahe's observation of a supernova in 1572 and a comet in 1577 helped him disprove the idea that the sky above the Earth is static. Brahe's study of the heavens was bolstered by King Frederick II of Denmark, who offered financial support for his studies in 1575. The famous German astronomer Johannes Kepler served as Brahe's assistant near the end of the 16th century.
