When did the typhoon hit the Philippines?

Typhoon Rammasun hit the Philippines on July 16, 2014. The typhoon killed at least 38 people in the Philippines and killed more than 100 people total. It caused more than $7 billion in total damages.

Rammasun, which was referred to as Glenda in the Philippines, was the first major typhoon of 2014 for the area. About 350,000 people evacuated their homes in anticipation of the storm. It was a category three storm when it made landfall, hitting many major cities of the Philippines. The Philippines typically gets about eight major tropical storms per year. Typhoon Haiyan was responsible for over 6,000 deaths in 2013.
