The French currency, the euro has faced a downward trend for about a year. However, the euro is still stronger than the U.S. dollar. As of Oct. 22, 2015, the euro currently trades for $1.11.
The euro is not a uniquely French currency but is controlled by an economic and political alliance known as the European Union. The European Union contains 28 nations, most of which use the euro as their currency. However, certain Eastern and Northern European countries as well as the United Kingdom are part of the European Union, but do not use the euro as their currency.
