What is the difference between the ACA and the ACCA?

Qualifying for ACA may take three to four years, while an ACCA qualification can be acquired in two years, especially if the candidate has prior work experience in finance. The ACCA is recognized internationally, but the ACA may not be recognized in some Asian countries.

The ACA requires 3.5 years of relevant work experience along with examinations. This experience can only be gained from an ACA-certified company. Work experience for an ACCA can take place in any company provided the candidate is working in a finance department. ACA is an apt qualification for those who want careers in accounting and auditing, whereas ACCA is suitable for careers in financial services, financial accounting and management accounting.
