What is the difference between Bactrian and dromedary camels?

Dromedary, or Arabian, camels have one hump and live in the Middle East and northern Africa, while Bactrian camels have two humps and live in central Asia. Arabian camels are domestic animals. There are two separate types of Bactrian camels: wild and domestic.

As of 2014, there are less than 1,000 wild Bactrian camels, and the species is classified as endangered.

The domestic Bactrian camel weighs between 1,320 and 2,200 pounds, while the wild Bactrian only weighs about 992 pounds. The dromedary, or Arabian, camel weighs between 880 and 1,325 pounds.

When they are excited, dromedary camels might spit cud. This behavior is not seen in Bactrian camels unless they are abused.
