Tablets are solid forms of medication that are compressed into small, circular or oblong shaped discs. Caplets are smaller versions of tablets that have a smoother surface, which makes them easier to swallow. Both caplets and tablets can be broken up and crushed into smaller doses.
Tablets and caplets are very similar forms of medication. They are both coated with sugar and other ingredients to help slow down the release of medication into the body. They are less expensive to produce than other forms of medicines. According to AllStarHealth.com, caplets and tablets have longer shelf lives than other forms of medications.
