The difference between Upper and Lower Egypt is social, cultural and geographical. Lower Egypt is mainly made up of the Nile Delta, while Upper Egypt is the country further south. The border between the regions is usually considered to be at a latitude of 30 degrees north.

Lower Egypt is a heavily populated land of fertile soils, while Upper Egypt is mainly desert country with a low population.
