The London Underground is divided into six different travel zones, beginning with zone one in central London and moving outwards in concentric circles. The zones become higher the further passengers travel from central London. Travel is more expensive in zones one and two than in the higher zones.
The London Underground, or Tube, is the city's public transportation system. Passengers must pay for all zones they travel trough during each trip. Visitors can purchase a one-day travel card, which provides unlimited travel in all six zones.
Examples of stations located in Central London's zone one include Charing Cross, Westminster and Piccadilly Circus. Zone two stations include Whitechapel and Camden Town.
