What are the different types of achievement tests?

Some main types of achievement tests include survey tests, diagnostic tests and prognostic tests. There are often two types of survey tests, and both are designed to determine the standing of an individual when compared with a group.

Diagnostic achievement tests typically cover one subject and will outline a student's strengths and weaknesses within that one subject. Prognostic tests are designed with a projection in mind of how well a student will do in specific subjects. Prognostic tests include the Scholastic Aptitude Test, otherwise known as the SAT. The SAT is a requirement for most colleges in the United States to gain entrance.
