The six main types of Great Danes are black, blue, harlequin, mantle, fawn and brindle. Harlequin Great Danes are white with black patches, and mantle Great Danes are black and white with solid black torsos.
A Great Dane that is fawn colored has golden brown fur with a black mask across its face. A brindle Great Dane is a mix of fawn and black in a striped pattern. These six colorings are the most common in Great Danes, but this breed can also be found in merle, piebald and white. Each kind of Great Dane has a short, smooth coat that is prone to shedding.
