Are there different types of microprocessors?
By Forinfos - 29/01/2026 - 0 comments
There are two different types of microprocessors; they are ARM processors and X86 processors. X86 processors are named for the instruction set they use, while ARM processors are named after the company that designs them.
Desktops, laptops and servers use X86 processors, which are made by either Intel or Advanced Micro Devices. ARM processors are used primarily in small, battery-powered devices like cell phones, digital cameras and tablets. ARM processors may be modified by the device manufacturer before release. Power consumption is the primary difference between the processors, as X86 processors require more power and generate more heat, while ARM processors don't require much power to run.
