What are some different types of motion?

There are three basic types of motion: translational, rotational and oscillatory. Translational motion results in a change of location, rotational can occur in anything from a fan moving in a circle to the rotation of the planets around the sun and oscillatory motion is repetitive, an example being the pendulum on a clock.
Walking to and from work can either be translational motion, as a change in location is made, or oscillatory; even though an action was taken, the result didn't end in any permanent distance being covered because the start and end points are the same. Other examples of rotational motion are the Earth turning once along its axis each day or a spinning top.
