Thin sheets of Plexiglas can be cut using a glass cutter, while thicker sheets may be cut with power tools, such as a table, circular saw or band saw. Power tools are also necessary when cutting Plexiglas in shapes that are more complex.

Plexiglas can be cut along straight lines without using power tools by putting the glass on a flat surface and scoring it with a glass cutter 10 times. Placing the scored section over the edge of a work surface makes it possible break it along the line. Electrical plastic cutting tools are suitable for cutting extremely thin Plexiglas. If using power tools, the blade must have a fine edge or smaller, closer teeth to lessen the friction that can cause chipping.
