What are some dihydrogen monoxide facts?

Dihydrogen monoxide is a polar solvent that consists of a single oxygen atom covalently bonded with hydrogen. It is commonly used as an industrial coolant and is often released into the environment as a byproduct of petroleum distillation. In its gas phase, it is known to contribute to global warming.
Once released as a gas, dihydrogen monoxide combines with carbon in the atmosphere to form a weak acid solution that can accelerate the oxidation of exposed metals. Much of the erosion in the Grand Canyon has been attributed to dihydrogen monoxide; the substance has been detected in blood tests of people with multiple physical disorders, and the CDC reports that it causes more than 3,000 American fatalities a year: 20 percent of these fatalities are children.
