What is dimensional analysis in chemistry?

Dimensional analysis is a concept that chemists use to convert units of measurement. Through this concept, chemists are able to convert any unit to another unit that is in the same dimension.

Dimensions in chemistry are groups of units that measure similar values. For example, seconds, minutes and hours can all be converted to each other through dimensional analysis because they all measure the dimension of time. Other dimensions include length, mass, temperature, concentration, electric current and light intensity. All of these dimensions have different units that are interconvertible within their own dimension. Chemists utilize this concept to simplify and approximate scientific answers.
