What are the dimensions of a high school track?

A high school field track that meets the standards of the International Association of Athletics Federation, abbreviated as IAAF, has an inside perimeter of 400 meters. The straight lengths of the track are 84.39 meters long, while the curved ends are 115.61 meters. Each lane is 1.22 meters wide.

A high school track typically features eight lanes, although six- and nine-lane tracks are also commonplace. Most outdoor tracks are made out of a synthetic rubber surface that is bonded to a base layer to prevent shifting. The synthetic rubber surface is resilient and generally withstands all weather conditions. These surfaces also feature shock absorption designed to prevent injury to the runners.
