Who directed the movie "Cinema Paradiso"?

The movie "Cinemo Paradiso" was directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, who also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Vanna Paoli. The movie was released in 1988 and won the Special Jury Grand Prix at the 1989 Cannes Film Festival, but it was not commercial successful until a 1990 re-release.

After its re-release in 1990, "Cinemo Paradiso" was nominated for and won various awards, including the Best Foreign Language Film at the 1990 British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Giueseppe Tornatore was also nominated for the Best Director award at the 1990 British Academy of Film and Television Arts as well as the Directors Guild of America.
