Do dishwashers have a standard height?

Dishwashers are made to fit a standard opening that is 34 inches tall and 24 inches wide and deep, as of 2015. Narrow dishwashers measuring 18 inches wide are available for small kitchens, but the height is the same as that of standard units.

Cabinet openings sometimes are smaller than the standard 34 inches because multiple flooring layers are in place or because countertops are lower to provide accessibility for disabled users. Short-tub dishwashers, including single-drawer washers, are available to fit spaces that are less than 34 inches tall. Double-drawer dishwashers are designed to fit in the same space as a standard dishwasher.
