What is a dissecting needle used for?
By Forinfos - 23/06/2025 - 0 comments
A dissecting needle is used to assist in the dissection of small animals and plants. Also known as a dissecting probe, this tool can facilitate the process by helping to pin body parts or explore the exposed structure of the object being dissected.
Dissecting needles are comparable to sewing needles, but typically have wood, metal or plastic handles. The word "dissection" comes from the Latin "dissecare" which means to cut to pieces. In biology, dissection is used to further the understanding of the internal structures of animals and plants. It is also used to better understand how those structures function and relate to one another.
