Since most track fields have multiple lanes so that multiple runners can compete simultaneously in a race, each lane is of a different distance with the shortest being the inside lane that measures around 400 meters. The distance of each lane increases as a runner moves to a more outer lane.
In general, track lanes are each about 1.22 meters wide. Therefore the second lane is 407.67 meters long, the third lane is 415.33 meters long, the fourth lane is 423 meters long, the fifth lane is 430.66 meters long, the sixth lane is 433.38 meters long, the seventh lane is 446 meters long and the eighth lane is 453.66 meters long.
