These generator apps tend to use facial recognition software developed for less frivolous purposes.

The term "doppleganger" is a German word that has been borrowed by the English language. It means a double or look-alike. Seeing a doppleganger is supposed to be bad luck. Seeing one's own doppleganger is said to be an omen of death.
