What is a double-edge safety razor?

Though their popularity declined after the debut of the multi-edge razor, several companies still manufacture double-edge safety razors in 2014. The razor's blades are more affordable, and its double-sided design makes for a more frugal approach to shaving. These razors aren't for beginners, and there is a higher likelihood of cutting skin if not used to handling a double-edge razor.
