Where do downloaded files go on your PC?

Where files go after downloading depends on your Internet browser and whether you select to save or run the file. Most Internet browsers save downloaded files to a Downloads folder, but you may have the option to save it in a different location.

To find a file that you have already downloaded, click on the Start menu and type Downloads into the search box that appears. If the download is recent, you can also locate the file from your browser by pressing CTRL + J on the keyboard. You can change your Internet browser settings to save downloaded files into a dedicated folder, desktop or other location. Alternatively, you can move the Downloads folder to the desktop to easily locate files.
