Dr. Myles Monroe was a student at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After graduating from the university, he went on to teach there as an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Theology.

Dr. Monroe and his wife Mrs Ruth Anne Monroe died in a plane crash on Sunday, November 9, 2014. Monroe and his wife were traveling to the Global Leadership Summit in Freeport, Grand Bahama, when their plane crashed, killing the Monroes as well as seven other passengers.

Dr. Monroe was a prolific author and published more than 38 books before his death. He was also a motivational speaker and advisor to executives working at many Fortune 500 companies.
