Does a Dyson dc56 plug in or charge on battery power?

A Dyson DC56 hand vacuum operates on battery power that is taken from a 22.2 volt lithium-ion battery. This battery gives it an operational time of 15 minutes at the high constant suction setting or 6 minutes when it is operated under boost suction mode.
The Dyson DC56 vacuum is designed with the Root Cyclone technology which operates by using high centrifugal forces to move dirt quickly from the airflow and into a trash bin. As of 2015, the purchase of a DC56 Dyson vacuum also includes nine Dyson Hard floor wet wipes as well as a set of combination and crevice tools.
