What are some edible wild mushrooms?

Some edible types of wild mushrooms include chanterelles, morels, lion's mane mushrooms and oyster mushrooms. People should take note that some of these types of mushrooms look very similar to other poisonous types of wild mushrooms.

Chanterelle mushrooms grow on both the east and west coasts of the United States and are commonly found clustered around conifers and hardwoods. They are sometimes confused with jack-o'-lantern mushrooms, which are toxic and should not be consumed.

Lion's mane mushrooms have a pom-pom-like appearance and most commonly grow on beech trees. Oyster mushrooms are available year-round and are often found growing on the sides of dogwood trees and other hardwoods.
