Ants can be gotten rid of by using vinegar, chalk, honey, essential oil or ant balls. Minimizing or removing their harborage sites and getting rid of debris and mulch can also help keep ants away.

A combination of strategies, rather than a single one, gets rid of ants effectively. Since ants move invade a house in search of food and shelter, sealing up food and closing up crevices will keep them away. If insecticides are used, these should be sprayed on and around the ant colony to kill larvae and pupae. Insecticide baits attract ants and are more effective at ant control than hunting for colonies.
