Are eggs high in cholesterol?

Eggs are high in dietary cholesterol but only have a small effect on blood cholesterol. Experts believe healthy individuals can safely eat six to seven eggs a week without increasing the risk of heart disease. Eggs are an excellent source of protein, vitamins and minerals.
Eggs have been speculated to cause heart disease due to their high cholesterol content, but studies have shown that trans fats and saturated fats have a greater impact on blood cholesterol than eating foods high in dietary cholesterol. High blood cholesterol clogs blood vessels, reducing blood flow to the heart. This often results in a heart attack.
