Is there any electricity in fruit?

Although fruit does not have an inherent electrical charge, acidic fruit can be used to create electricity. Lemons, for example, will react to certain metals to create an electrical charge.
The acid in fruit acts as an electrolyte, which is a substance that ionizes when dissolved. Ionization is when atoms gain a positive or negative electrical charge. Placing zinc and copper in opposite sides of a lemon will ionize the fruit. Connecting the two pieces of metal will create an electrical circuit powerful enough to be measured by an electrical meter. Electrons will move from the negatively charged piece of metal to the positively charged piece of metal.
