Does electronic muscle stimulation really work?

Medicine Net indicates that electronic muscle stimulation may work. However, although EMS has shown the ability to strengthen, tone or firm a muscle, the results from the stimulation are only temporary.
There are EMS belts being sold that claim to tone, firm and strengthen abdominal muscles. Manufacturers claim that these products cause weight loss, promote girth reduction and help the user obtain rock hard abs. However, no EMS can do all of this on its own. Medicine Net advises that EMS in conjunction with the right diet and workout plan can help individuals to achieve and maintain their fitness goals.
