Who is eligible for Medicaid in South Carolina?

Children under age 18, seniors over age 65, the blind or disabled, pregnant women, foster children, women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer and families with little to no income may be eligible for Medicaid in South Carolina. Each category has income and resource limits that each household must meet.
Income limits are based on the number of people in a household, so a family of eight can make more money than a family of four and still qualify for Medicaid. On the other hand, the smaller family may be denied based on income. Some resources, such as a primary residence or car, are exempt and do not count towards the resource limits.
