There are many eligibility requirements for Supplemental Security Income. An individual may be eligible if they are aged 65 or older, disabled or blind. They must also be a citizen of the United States and have limited income and resources.
Other requirements include that the enrolled individual lives in the U.S. This person cannot leave for any consecutive 30 day period. The prospective enrollee must not be confined to an institution such as a hospital or prison, and must also apply for other government cash benefit programs such as pensions and social security. Enrollment also requires giving the government the right to look up your financial records.
