What is the Emirates Group?

As of 2015, the Emirates Group is a conglomerate of 50 specialist corporations that operate in a large variety of industries. The group began in 1959 with the establishment of dnata in Dubai with the purpose of providing ground handling services at the country's international airport.

The companies that make up the Emirates Group are primarily based in the aviation industry. These companies provide services such as flight catering, engineering, training and cargo. Other companies in the Emirates Group also operate in the leisure and retail industry. As of 2015, hotels and tourist firms are also part of the group's portfolio of companies.
