The emperor penguin's typical diet consists of fish, krill, squid and crustaceans, though the actual composition of their diet varies from population to population. Fish is the most important food source for emperor penguins, with the Antarctic silverfish accounting for most of the penguin's diet.
Glacial squid, hooked squid and Antarctic krill are also eaten by emperor penguins, although in lesser quantities. These penguins can swim to a depth of more than 1,755 feet in order to find food.
Emperor penguins are found in the Antarctic, and actually live on the glaciers of Antarctica and in the frigid surrounding waters. They crowd together to conserve heat and keep the cold winds away.
