Employer identification numbers are public information. If registering as a business, the Employer Identification Number (EIN) is public. If a person is registering as a business and giving a Social Security Number (SSN) as an EIN, the SSN is public as well.
An Employer Identification Number (EIN) contains nine digits and is needed for all of the businesses and additional employers in order to identify tax accounts with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The EIN is one of two identification numbers given by the IRS to businesses and other entities. These number are collectively known as Taxpayer Identification Numbers (TIN).
