Are EMT training courses available online?

Online classes to become an Emergency Medical Technician are available. However, it is essential to receive hands-on training at a brick and mortar facility to pass the test given by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

To become certified by the NREMT, a prospective Emergency Medical Technician must be 18 years of age, must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and must have completed a state-approved EMT training program, in addition to passing the exam given by the NREMT.

A portion of the EMT training can be done online if the course is offered by a program that is accredited by the NREMT, but CPR training and practical skills training must be completed in person.
