Enrique Iglesias is the son of Julio Iglesias, a famous Spanish singer, and Isabel Preysler, a Madrid socialite and magazine journalist. He has two older siblings, Chabeli and Julio. He was born in Madrid, Spain.

Iglesias' mother is from Manila, in the Philippines, and his father is Spanish, from the Galicia and Andalusia provinces, and also claims Jewish and Puetro Rican ancestry. The couple divorced in 1979.

Iglesias' grandfather, Dr. Julio Iglesias Puga, was kidnapped in 1986 by the Basque separatist terrorist group ETA. As a result, he and his brother were sent to live with their father in Miami.
