The Euphorbia trigona is a perennial plant also known as an African milk bush, cathedral cactus, candelabra cactus or friendship cactus, even though it is neither a bush nor a cactus. It is native to western Africa and used in rituals in Gabon.
In the United States, the Euphorbia trigona thrives best as a house plant. It has a dark green stem that branches out on several sides. It has long thorns that grow in pairs on the stem, with leaves interspersed between the thorns. The latex from the plant is venomous. There are no recorded instances of a Euphorbia trigona flowering.
