What are examples of input devices?

Input devices allow users to enter data into the computer. Some of the main input devices are the keyboard, mouse, webcam, touch screen, optical mark reader, pen, stylus and microphone.

Other input devices include the barcode reader that is used to read and interpret barcodes and the biometric scanners that are used to scan an individual's fingerprint. The digital camera, game pad, Microsoft Kinect, paddle, joystick and light gun are also popular input devices that are used for specific jobs. Although the microphone is mostly referred to as an output device, it can be used as an input device for speech recognition.
