What are examples of physiological needs?

Physiological needs are physical things needed for human survival and proper functioning of the human body. These needs fall under the first level of needs in psychologist Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs.

Examples of physiological needs include breathing, food and water, clothing and sexual reproduction. Failure to fulfill some of these physiological needs may lead to death. Sexual reproduction is categorized as a physiological need because it is essential for propagation of the species. Physiological needs are considered the most important of the needs and must be met before other needs because all other needs depend on the physiological needs being met.
