What exterior paint color fades the least?

Muted yellow is an example of an exterior paint color that fades very little, says HomeAdvisor. Since muted yellow is a light color, it does better in direct sunlight than darker colors do.
Darker colors present several problems in addition to their likelihood to fade, says About.com. For instance, they are more likely to develop moisture issues and may be hard to match if touch-ups are needed a few years or more down the road. However, dark colors do hide dust and stains, and they also add an aura of dignity.
In cases where fading is a big concern, HomeAdvisor recommends avoiding vibrant colors.
