Because you cannot use FaceTime on an iPhone 4 over a cellular network, you must connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network before FaceTime can work. Newer versions of the iPhone allow users to connect to FaceTime over cellular networks.
- Locate the Settings icon
Find the Settings icon on your iPhone 4 and tap it to select it. The Settings icon looks like a gear. A screen appears that includes several options to select.
- Tap Wi-Fi
Tap Wi-Fi to select the screen that allows you to select a Wi-Fi network.
- Locate the desired Wi-Fi network
Find the Wi-Fi network listed underneath the Choose a Network section of the screen to which you want to connect. The iPhone now either connects to the network or asks you to enter a password to connect to the network.
- Tap FaceTime
Locate the FaceTime icon on your iPhone 4, and tap it to select FaceTime. The icon looks like a video camera.
- Choose your contact
Tap to select the person with whom you want to connect via FaceTime. Your iPhone dials the person to connect you. Once you are finished with the conversation, press the red button at the bottom of the screen to disconnect.
