Factors that determine the wage of a hairdresser include the education level, training and experience of the stylist. Additional factors that affect salary include the size of the company, the client base, location and the type of hours available for the hairdresser to work.
Hairdressers with more experience or professional development training in specific areas, such as hair coloring, new and innovative styles and styling for special occasions, may warrant a higher wage or salary. Salons or companies that reside in an upscale geographic location or possess a client base that is upper class or consists of celebrities often pay higher salaries to hairdressers.
