According to the Mayo Clinic, if a baby has a concussion, there are nonverbal clues to watch for such as excessive crying, appearing dazed or loss of balance that are exhibited after a head injury. These symptoms signal a need to take the baby to the hospital for further examination.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, parents should contact their infant's doctor after a head injury to assess what steps need to be taken. If there are any symptoms beyond that of a small bump, medical care should be sought immediately. If the baby exhibits vomiting, unusual lack of coordination, or visible changes in behavior or mood, the baby is likely experiencing a concussion.
