How much should a two year-old weigh?

According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the average 2-year-old boy weighs approximately 24.8 to 28.9 pounds, and the average 2-year-old girl weighs from 23.3 to 27.5 pounds. The CDC definition of average means that the child falls in the 50th percentile.
The growth chart percentiles are used as an aid by doctors to see if a toddler is developmentally on track. Children who fall either below or above the 50th percentile, however, can also be considered healthy. Doctors monitor toddlers' growth because children that are underweight or overweight are more prone to health problems, both in childhood and as adults.
